Issues With Phone Calls

I really want to believe in this device. I’ve seen where other reviewers have had issues and they’ve testified that the support has reached out and helped them correct their problems, so I hope that will be my story as well.

Setup of the device was rather simple. I connected it to my 2020 Toyota Corolla. On bootup, the device/connection takes anywhere from 30 to 60 seconds. It has only had issues booting up once so far, and a simple replugging the device into my cars USB port resolved it.

The main issue that I have ran into, is the hands free calling. When I receive a phone call and answer it, the other party can not hear me. And when I make a phone call (through Siri), the other party can technically hear me, although its very quiet and delayed by a large margin. So I had to fumble with my phone and put it on speaker, which was not ideal.

I have seen where others have updated their devices firmware and it has fixed their issues (although I seem to be the outlier when it comes to having issues with phone calls, all of the other reviews seemed to be dealing with connection/Netflix/Maps).

I am going on a weeklong vacation this week and will maybe try tinkering with the devices settings/firmware. Hopefully support will contact me and walk me through on how to troubleshoot the device. I will update my review if this happens.

*EDIT*

Support has reached out to me and have offered troubleshooting advice and also have issued a full refund for my troubles. Fantastic company to deal with.

it was pretty easy to set up. Pretty self explanatory.

But… when you first turn on the car, it’s a bit slow, as when you go from the main menu to CarPlay, it’s instant, it has to establish a Bluetooth connection again, and again.

Likewise, you have to manual pair it to your hotspot every time you turn on the system to get it Netflix and YouTube to work, in the Settings menu.

Maybe that’s the consequence of the “Lite” version given that it costs less than $100.

And there’s what looks to be a “MicroSD” card slot also for additional storage for videos

UPDATE:
The module works great on a touch screen. I moved it to another car with touch screen and it works great. The issue is on a car that does not have touch screen such as a 2019 Audi Q7 the touch pad and Rotating dial simply does not work with the cursors and you cannot enter basicx inputs such as account information, passwords etc. that render it useless for netflix or Youtube, but it does well with Carplay. Much faster than the carlink module I had the last 1 1/2 years.

Seller communication is GREAT! Updates to Missing Day/Night mode switching

This device was easy to setup and connect to my 2022 Honda Pilot and Samsung S22 Ultra phone with BT and works well for connecting each time. However, the problem is the Map does not change from DAYTIME (bright screen) to NIGHTTIME (dark screen) like the wired version of Android Auto. And even selecting night mode on my display results in no change. This is a HUGE issue, as much of my driving is in the night, and a daytime/bright map is not acceptable for use. Please advise if there is a missing setting for this to auto-switch between day / night mode for map in AA with your device (as it does so by default with the AA wired). Else, this will need to be returned as defective. (waiting on seller response currently).

Separately, I did turn on hotspot and it worked with Youtube/Netflix with minimal effort. All in all the product works well and the user interface is quick and easy to setup / use. But two items of note, one is solve, one is waiting on seller…
1. Nav voice guidance is a same volume level of music being played — in settings this can be changed to “mixed” and reduced so as not to be overpowering. But by default is at same volume as music.
2. Day/Night map mode does not and cant find any way to switch to a night mode map for night time driving. this is unusable give the large bright white map at night. Awaiting seller response, else will return.
As this is a basic function and operates automatically when using AA via phone/usb cable (wired).

UPDATE: Seller is providing an update to fix the day/night mode. And has been very responsive to inquiries and their actions. This has been a great experience and makes the product and purchase and usage a great experience. As this product starts up fast, and is easy to setup the initial time, and then autoconnects everytime quickly.

I then decided to reach out to the seller through their contact services as they state that customers can contact them directly if there is any issues with the device. I tried contacting them several times and did not receive a single response. This is an untrustworthy company and I recommend people 🚩DO NOT🚩 purchase as they will not give you any type of help or support if you need it.
